“The freedom experienced since LASIK is amazing!  It’s the simple things in life like focusing on the clock, wearing sunglasses, and reading street signs.  I can’t wait to use our pool this summer because finally I don’t have to worry about getting splashed by the kids or swimming in fear of losing a contact.  After being in glasses for over 20 years, it’s incredible!” -Courtney Whiten (Spectrum Lasik Patient 2011)

At Spectrum Lasik, you will receive the most advanced and enjoyable laser eye procedures available in a relaxed setting.  By researching and learning more about these treatments, you are beginning a journey.  Many people who wear contact lenses and glasses find them to be a burden and long term expense.  They spend years tolerating the inconvenience before considering the alternative that can reduce their dependence on corrective lenses and possibly eliminate them altogether!

Laser Eye Surgery has changed peoples' lives for the better.  It is an elective procedure, but it is not simply an "aesthetic" alternative to eyeglasses. People who realize the greatest success having Laser Vision Correction discover how liberating and full their lives can be without the inconvenience and cost of glasses or contacts. The ability to see better after Laser Eye Surgery has motivated patients to explore new opportunities personally and professionally.  Not only do recreational activities become easier and more enjoyable afterward, but patients also experience a new sense of independence from the restrictions of corrective lenses. However, laser vision correction is not for everyone.  We want you to make a well-informed decision when choosing this procedure.

Our Spectrum Lasik mission is to ensure you have a positive experience with the most advanced Blade-free Laser Vision Correction.  We do not support older methods of LVC such as bladed Lasik, but wish to distinguish ourselves by utilizing only the most advanced technology at an affordable cost.  Studies have shown Blade-free LASIK to be 100 times more accurate than traditional bladed-LASIK and one of the safest forms of surgical vision correction today.  The outer surface of the cornea suffers no trauma as our surgeon designs a very precise incredibly small spot size incision (3 microns).  This technology benefits you by being a safer procedure with predictably better vision at follow up exams. More patients prefer their vision and see better following Blade-free Laser Vision Correction than with previous methods.

When you come in for your complimentary consultation, our Spectrum Lasik eye doctor will determine your candidacy and help you decide if laser vision correction is right for you.  If you determine that LASIK is the right choice, you will be in good company.  More than five million LASIK procedures have been performed worldwide in the past 10 years with almost 2 million in the USA last year alone. Information and statistics obtained during extensive clinical trials shows that nearly all patients experienced a significant improvement in uncorrected vision (vision without glasses or contact lenses) after LASIK.*  People with certain medical conditions or women who are pregnant may not be good candidates for LASIK.

To help you decide if LASIK is right for you, please read the information below about Laser Vision Correction Procedures and call at 864-297-8777 or email us at info@spectrumlasik.com if you have any other questions.

The LASIK Procedure

If you are over 18 years old with normal eye health and a prescription that has not increased significantly in the last 12 months, then you may be an ideal candidate for Lasik.  Spectrum Lasik owns the newest, most advanced, FDA-approved lasers and combines them with the diagnostic precision originally invented by NASA.  Our lasers are precisely calibrated and never move from our location, unlike at other centers.

Refractive Errors:

  • Myopia (Nearsightedness) occurs when light rays are focused in front of the retina instead of directly on the retina.  To treat nearsightedness, the cornea must be made flatter. This is accomplished by removing microscopic amounts of tissue from the center of the cornea.
  • Hyperopia (Farsightedness) occurs when light rays are not bent enough to focus on the retina. To treat farsightedness, the central cornea must be made steeper. This is accomplished by directing the laser beam to remove tissue from around this area.
  • Astigmatism occurs when light rays are focused by an irregularly shaped cornea at more than one point on the retina. To treat astigmatism, the cornea must be made more spherical. By changing the pattern of the beam, tissue is removed in one direction more than the other.

 The Spectrum Lasik Process:

  1. You receive a complimentary examination by one of our Lasik trained doctors with detailed information about the Lasik investment
  2. If you wish to proceed with Lasik or Laser Vision Correction (LVC), then a preoperative examination will follow
  3. Before your procedure, you'll be given some numbing drops and medication so you won't feel any discomfort
  4. Our surgeon uses the most advanced OptiLASIK® technology which begins with the Wavelight® FS200 femtosecond laser, to make a thin flap in your cornea at the appropriate treatment site
  5. A second laser, the Wavelight® Allegretto Wave® Eye Q excimer laser, creates a map and captures your eyes uniqueness to drive a custom correction to your cornea based on your specific vision/eye characteristics.
  6. Then, the protective flap is folded back in place where it bonds securely without the need for stitches.
  7. The actual Laser Vision Correction process takes about 20 minutes all together, but the laser treatment lasts just seconds.  It's safe, fast, comfortable and promptly, you will have improved vision without glasses or contacts*.  After LASIK, some patients report a slight discomfort that usually goes away within twelve to twenty-four hours.
  8. If our doctors recommend the Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA) treatment, no corneal flap is created, but rather the corneal surface epithelial cells are removed and the Wavelight® Allegretto Wave® Eye Q treatment is applied.  The corneal surface heals over in a few days with a temporary bandage contact lens and vision improves steadily over a few weeks.

Dr Joe Parisi”I know that my surgical skill depends on the quality of my laser technology. For Spectrum Lasik, we purchased the most advanced lasers to give you the best results and a great experience.  Our Wavelight lasers work in seconds vs. minutes with other lasers.  Better technology means better vision. ”

Amazing Technology

With the blade free method, tiny pulses of laser light, a quadrillionth of a second each, pass harmlessly through the outer portion of your cornea and form a uniform layer of microscopic bubbles just beneath the surface of your eye. The Wavelight® FS200 flap creation process takes about 15 to 20 seconds per eye and a total of 20 minutes for the entire LASIK procedure. When it’s time for your LASIK treatment to be performed, Dr. Parisi gently lifts the flap to apply the LASIK treatment.

Outstanding Results

More patients prefer their vision and see better after LASIK with the blade free method than with previous methods.  This technology benefits you by being a safer procedure with predictably better vision at follow up exams. Millions of procedures have been performed safely and effectively. The blade free Method also delivers outstanding results and has been shown to improve outcomes for more patients.
